Eating Certain Foods Can Improve Your Health, Mind, and Appearance



I recently read an article called What you eat can improve your health, mind, and appearance. It was fabulous because I learned about even more foods that can help out all different types of your body. The first thing I liked about what Dr. David L. Katz, director of the Yale Prevention Research Center at Yale University said. He quoted " The more colors you get into your diet, the better!" I know I've heard that before, but hearing it again from a healthy foods article puts it back into perspective for me that it really is true. One thing that really stood out to me was something he said about fish. He explained that just from eating two servings of fish a week decreases your chance of having macular degeneration(a serious eye disease that occurs later on in life) by fifty percent! Who would have thought! That definitely changes what type of ain meat source I'll be wanting to buy from the grocery stores in my future. This is especially more applicable to me because my grandma has this disease making me more susceptibleto contracting it later on in life.

Another part I really enjoyed is when he talked about having more silky hair. Now, I know this may not be such a desire for boys, but it would be something guys want for their wives or girlfriends, right? Iknew this part would be found more fascinating by girls though. He mentioned that in order to get more shiny, healthy hair, we need to eat more foods high in calcium and quality protein. These kind of foods consist of: eggs, dairy foods, and of once again fish. Since healthy hair starts at the hair follicle, eating good foods like these will nourish follicle cells, and provide a structural component for both bone and hair.

One of the best things I learned was how to improve your mind. Doctors in the article said that both Omega-3 fatty acids as well as whole grains help your brain to be healthy. As well stated that diets rich in Vitamin E and C are associated with lower levels of cognitive impairment and aging. As well, folate and Vitamin B12 lowers the risk fo Alzheimers.

I learned a ton from this article and I know you would too! I didn't even get to mention half of what I learned, but the article provides a lot more healthy foods that provide good health for your heart and bones as well!

  1. i have heard so many positive things about eating healthy but some foods are just hard for me to enjoy like fish. what do you recommend i do?

  2. I think the foods that you don't like, for example, fish that contain omega-3 fatty acids, you should take vitamins to compensate for those foods. However, it is best to get the nutrients from the actual food source. Try looking at all different foods that contain those same nutrients, sometimes you'll find really good foods that contain the nutrients that you need! Good luck!
